The Secret Ingredient is Audacity
A sweet old lady was in the kitchen, prepping lunch for her husband. She had been making him the exact same meal every single day for the past 40 years. It was his absolute favorite: a classic sub on Italian bread, stacked with turkey, American cheese, pickles, onions, mustard, and mayo.
The husband strolled into the kitchen, took a seat, and bit into the sandwich. Right on cue, his wife asked, “How’s the sandwich, dear?”
And right on cue, he gave his standard, monotonous response: “It tastes fine.” He then continued chewing with a face so miserable you’d think he was eating cardboard.
The wife decided it was time to break the 40-year monotony. Let’s spice things up, she thought. The next day, she swapped the turkey for ham and used wheat bread instead of Italian. Surely, this will blow his mind!
The husband sat down, took a bite, and she asked, “How’s the sandwich, dear?”
He sighed, “It tastes fine,” maintaining the exact same face of deep, existential disappointment.
Determined to crack the code, she went full deli-mode the following day: salami, pepperoni, a mountain of veggies, and a heavy drizzle of vinaigrette. She practically vibrated with excitement as he took a bite. “How’s the sandwich, dear?!”
