The Chicken’s Strange Daily Mission

The Chicken’s Strange Daily Mission

A chicken casually walked into a quiet local library, marched right up to the circulation desk, looked the librarian dead in the eye, and loudly squawks:

“Book, book, BOOK!”

The thoroughly bewildered librarian, deciding it was much easier to comply than to argue with poultry, handed over a couple of thick mystery novels. She watched out the window in utter fascination as the chicken gripped the books, struts out the door, walks across the street, hustles through an open field, and disappears down a steep hill.

The very next afternoon, the chicken was back.

It marched straight up to the main desk, slammed the previous day’s novels down onto the counter, and demanded even more aggressively:

“Book, Book, BOOK, BOOK!”

Amused and incredibly curious, the librarian handed over a fresh stack of paperbacks. Once again, she watched the determined bird drag the heavy literature away into the distance.

On the third day, the chicken appeared yet again. It dropped the books on the desk and practically shrieked:

“Book, Book, Book, BOOK!!”

Driven mad by pure curiosity, the librarian decided she could no longer just sit there. The moment the chicken lunged out the front door with a brand-new pile of books, she slipped on her coat and stealthily followed the bird—tracking it across the street, through the grassy field, and all the way down the steep hill.

The trail led directly to the edge of a small, secluded pond.

Sitting on a large, flat rock at the water’s edge was the largest, most pompous-looking green bullfrog the librarian had ever laid eyes on.

The chicken confidently trotted right up to the rock, proudly dropped the stack of literature at the frog’s webbed feet, and clucked: “Book, Book, Book!”

The massive frog hopped over, used its front leg to casually flip through the pages with an air of supreme boredom, shook its head, and loudly croaked:

“Read it, read it, read it…”

The Chest in the Secret Chamber

At an ancient convent in Normandy, a strict rule had been enforced for over 200 years: no nun was ever permitted to enter the basement vault where the old Mother Superior’s locked wooden chest was kept.

Sister Beatrice, having been at the convent for thirty years, was entirely consumed by curiosity. One night, while the current Mother Superior was away at an emergency summit in the Vatican, Beatrice slipped downstairs with a master key and unlocked the chest. To her surprise, it was completely empty, save for two things: a small jar containing three broad beans, and a neatly stacked pile of cash totaling €50,000.

The following morning, overwhelmed by guilt, Sister Beatrice knelt before the returned Mother Superior to confess:”Mother, I have sinned deeply. I opened the forbidden chest in the vault. I saw the three beans and the €50,000. Please, tell me their meaning before you issue my penance.”

The Mother Superior sighed heavily, helped her up, and said: “I forgive your curiosity, child. Since you have already seen it, I shall tell you. During my forty years of managing this convent, every time I unfortunately… lapsed and broke my vow of celibacy with a man, I placed a single bean in that chest to remind myself of my mortal weakness.”

Sister Beatrice smiled with deep empathy and immense respect:”Oh, Mother! Forty years of isolation and only three beans? Your spiritual discipline is truly magnificent! I admire you immensely. But… what about the €50,000?”

The Mother Superior’s face turned utterly expressionless as she replied:”Ah. That is because every time the chest became completely full of beans, I had to take them to the local wholesale market to sell to the restaurants to clear out some space.”

She Was Leaving for Las Vegas to Get Paid $500 a Night—Until Her Husband’s Math Completely Ruined the Mood

A man walked through his front door after a long day at work, only to find his wife of ten years frantically throwing her clothes into a set of luggage.

“What on earth is going on? Where do you think you’re going?” the shocked husband demanded.

The wife turned around, slammed a suitcase shut, and said defiantly, “I’m moving to Las Vegas! I just found out today that there are wealthy men out there who will happily pay me $500 cash to do exactly what I’ve been doing for you here at home for completely free!”

The husband froze. He stood there and quietly pondered her statement for a brief moment. Then, without saying another word, he walked over to the bedroom closet, pulled out his own travel bag, and aggressively began packing his clothes.

“What the hell do you think you’re doing?!” she screamed, hands on her hips.

The husband zipped up his suitcase, looked her dead in the eye, and smiled:

“Oh, I’m going to Las Vegas with you… I just have to see how on earth you plan on surviving on $1,000 a year!”
